Terms
The terms of your garden.
The agreement between you and PlateGarden. Written to be read.
In effect from October 27, 2026
The short version
- The free plan plans one bed of your garden, forever.
- Whole Garden plans every bed and renews until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime in Settings. Yearly plans can be refunded within 30 days.
- Your garden is yours. Our advice is our best guidance, not a promise of a harvest.
1Who we are
PlateGarden is run by Daniel A. Belair Sr., doing business as PlateGarden, in Texas (“we” and “us”). By creating an account or using PlateGarden, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy notice. If you don’t agree, please don’t use PlateGarden.
2Your account
You must be at least 13 to use PlateGarden, and 18, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission, to buy a plan.
Use an email address you control; we send your sign-in codes there. Keep codes and your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
People you invite into your household can see and change the household’s garden.
3Free and Whole Garden
- Free. Map every bed and get a full plan for the one bed you choose, for as long as you like.
- Whole Garden. Plans every bed: $87 a year or $9.99 a month, in US dollars, plus any tax that applies.
- Founding price. People who joined the waitlist or beta may be offered $59 a year if they buy within 30 days of launch. It stays $59 for as long as the plan stays active.
- During the beta. Beta members have Whole Garden free until launch.
The price shown at checkout is the price you pay.
4Renewing and cancelling
Whole Garden renews automatically at the end of each year or month, on the payment method you used, until you cancel.
Cancel anytime in Settings › Your plan › Manage or cancel. You keep Whole Garden until the end of the time you’ve paid for, and then it doesn’t renew.
If we ever raise the price, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, so you can cancel first. A founding price never goes up while the plan stays active.
5Refunds
A yearly plan bought on the web is refunded in full if you ask within 30 days of buying it: Settings › Your plan › Request a refund. Whole Garden ends when the refund is made.
Monthly plans aren’t refunded; cancelling stops the next charge. Yearly renewals aren’t covered by the 30-day refund.
None of this limits any refund rights the law where you live gives you.
6Buying in the iPhone or Android app
If you buy Whole Garden in the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google charges you, and their terms cover payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds. Cancel in your Apple or Google account settings, and ask them for any refund. Deleting the app or your PlateGarden account doesn’t cancel an Apple or Google subscription.
7When a plan ends
Nothing is deleted. Your accepted plan and your garden history stay. New plans cover one bed again.
8Your garden information
What you enter is yours. You let us store and use it to run PlateGarden for you and your household.
When you delete your account, we keep anonymous growing results with no name, email, address or link to you, to improve advice for every gardener. You give us permission to keep and use those results permanently. The Privacy notice explains exactly what they contain.
You can delete your account anytime in Settings or at plategarden.app/delete-account.
9Garden advice
PlateGarden’s plans, dates, spacing, yields and care tips are our best estimate from what you tell us, your area and gardening research. Weather, soil, pests and plants vary, so we can’t promise a harvest.
Use your own judgment, especially about safety: don’t eat anything you aren’t sure of, keep plants that can harm them away from children and pets, and follow the label on any garden product. PlateGarden isn’t medical or nutrition advice.
10Using PlateGarden fairly
Don’t use PlateGarden to break the law, get into accounts or information that aren’t yours, overload or disrupt the service, copy it in bulk or with automated tools, or resell it.
We may suspend or close an account that does. We’ll tell you why, unless the law or someone’s safety stops us.
11Our work
The app, its plans, writing and illustrations, and the PlateGarden name belong to us or the people who license them to us. Use them to grow your own garden; don’t copy or resell them.
12Changes
PlateGarden keeps growing, and we may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. Using PlateGarden after that means you accept the new terms.
13Limits on our responsibility
PlateGarden is provided as it is and as available. As far as the law allows, we make no promises beyond these terms, and we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, such as a lost crop.
Our total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it, or $50, whichever is more. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
14Law and disputes
Texas law governs these terms. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Johnson County, Texas, unless the law where you live lets you bring them there. Please email us first; most things can be fixed quickly.
15If you use the iPhone app
These terms are between you and PlateGarden, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for the app or its content, and has no duty to maintain or support it. If the app doesn’t live up to a warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any; Apple has no other warranty duty.
Apple isn’t responsible for claims about the app, including product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims; we are, as these terms describe. You confirm you aren’t in a country under a US government embargo and aren’t on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you.
